Proceeding contribution from Cheryl Gillan (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 8 February 2012. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on Agricultural Policy.

Agricultural Policy

I talk to the Farmers Union of Wales regularly. In fact, we spoke recently, as the right hon. Gentleman knows, because we had a very good Welsh breakfast in the House of Lords to reflect on good Welsh produce. I believe he was in attendance. It is fair to remind people that the National Farmers Union in Wales supports the policy on wages boards, and the Public Bodies Act 2011 requires a public consultation on the future of the AWB. The Government will make a formal decision once they have considered the consultation responses, but I would encourage the right hon. Gentleman to make representations.
