Proceeding contribution from Mark Williams (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 8 February 2012. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on Agricultural Policy.

Agricultural Policy

It is a pleasure to serve under your chairmanship, Mr Havard. I want to return to the subject, initially at least, of the question I posed earlier on the veterinary laboratories in Carmarthen and Aberystwyth. I thank the Minister of State for his answer and in particular his assurance about Saturday working under new arrangements, which is welcome. He said that 50% of samples served by those laboratories in Aberystwyth and Carmarthen were already dealt with by post and that those who would face a change would be those who currently benefit from the immediacy of the location. I understand that but he will appreciate that as a constituency Member my concern is with those farmers in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and southern Gwynedd who are served by those laboratories as well.
