Proceeding contribution from Baroness Tyler of Enfield (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Monday, 27 February 2012. It occurred during Debate on bill on Health and Social Care Bill.
Health and Social Care Bill
My Lords, I, too, spoke briefly in the debate last time about the statuary duty of candour. At the end of that debate the Minister gave a number of important reassurances. One was to review the contractual duty in a specified period to see how effectively it was working. The second was to do with further work to explore how this whole issue could be taken forward in the area of primary careāan area which I, and certainly colleagues on these Benches, still feel is extremely important. I would be grateful if the noble Lord, in summing up, could say anything further about how a contractual duty of candour would apply to those in primary care. Also, could he give any further reassurances at this stage about the reasons why he feels that a contractual duty of candour in the way which is set out in this particular amendment would be effective?
