To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what estimate she has made of the number of British citizens who have travelled to (a) Syria and (b) Iraq and returned to the UK since January 2014.
- Answer

As the Prime Minister said in his statement in the House on 1 September 2014, we now believe that more than 500 people have travelled from the UK to become involved in the conflict in the region. A significant subset of those are believed to have returned.
