To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment she has made of the effect of the allocation of the education maintenance allowance on participation rates in post-16 education.

The final report of the quantitative evaluation of the Education Maintenance Allowance pilots was published in 2005. It contains an assessment of the impact of the allowance on participation and attainment and is available at: http://dera.ioe.ac.uk/5734/1/RR678.pdf
The Education Maintenance Allowance was abolished and replaced by the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund in the 2011/12 academic year
