Youth Justice Board
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how (a) much funding was allocated to and (b) many full-time equivalent staff were employed by the Youth Justice Board in each year since 2009-10.

The welfare of young people in custody is extremely important. We make sure the YJB are appropriately staffed and funded to carry out the important work of keeping children safe. We will be setting out our plans to reform the way we manage young offenders in the coming weeks.
The total funding allocated to the Youth Justice Board in each year since 2009/10 is in the following table. During this period the number of young people in custody has substantially fallen. This has led to a smaller youth estate, and a reduction in the YJB’s budget.

2011/12
2012/13

The average number of full-time equivalent staff can be found in the Youth Justice Board Annual Report and Accounts available on gov.uk.
