Leisure: Facilities
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what plans she has for further investment in local facility infrastructure to increase activity levels.
- Answer
-
Government's Sporting Future strategy is clear that access to the right facilities is a crucial part of getting more people active.
In December 2016, Sport England is launching a Community Asset Fund - with £7.5m available in the first Phase - to support the running, maintenance and development of local sports facilities, including support for community groups that want to use sport and physical activity to make a difference in their local area.
In January 2017, Sport England will publish its facilities investment guide, to provide more information on the type of projects that will be supported through the new facilities investment. Organisations are already able to apply for investment in major capital projects through Sport England’s Strategic Facilities Fund, details of which are provided on the Sport England website.
