United Nations: Armed Forces

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, which British Officers were attached to the UN by appointments and ranks in the last two years.

Answer: In the last two years, there were five British Officers who were seconded to the United Nations (UN). These secondments are to posts in the UN HQ in New York and the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia. Given the small number, it is not possible to detail their appointments and ranks without infringing Data Protection principles, whereby individuals should not be identifiable through providing specific details (such as appointments and ranks) which, due to the small number, would mean that the subjects could be identified individually.
