Asylum: Maternity Benefits

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many days on average it takes between receipt of an application claiming asylum in the UK and the date of first payment of (a) maternity grant, (b) maternity allowance and (c) maternity pay.

Answer

Details of the support available to asylum seekers including payments toward the costs arising from the birth of a new baby can be found at:

https://www.gov.uk/asylum-support/overview

Information on the average length of time between asylum application and maternity payment is not routinely collected and could only be provided by examination of individual case records, which would result in disproportionate cost.
