Trident

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether the (a) safety, (b) affordability and (c) strategic relevance of the trident nuclear weapons system will be considered as part of the national security capability review.

Answer

On 18 July 2016, Parliament decisively supported our commitment to maintain the UK's independent nuclear deterrent. That decision has been taken, and it is not under consideration as part of the National Security Capability Review.
