To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how much was paid from the public purse in compensation to prison staff as a result of injuries suffered in a violent attack on the prison estate in the most recent financial year for which such information is available.

Some £450,000 was paid to prison staff in damages in 2016/17 who had brought personal injury claims following alleged assaults.
