Teaching Assistants: Job Description

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, whether his Department has issued a standardised specification for the job description for teaching assistants.

The Department has not issued a job description or specification for the role of teaching assistants. It is for employers to define job roles and make decisions about contracts of employment. The Education Endowment Foundation has published evidence and guidance providing recommendations for the effective use of teaching assistants in order to support employers further on this matter.
