Currently the Home Office does not have a dedicated Director of Official Development Assistance (ODA). The ODA work falls under the remit of the International Directorate, and the International Director.
A new role of Director of Official Development Assistance has been created, and the vacancy is live on the Civil Service jobs website. The closing deadline for this application is 17th June.
The role is to build and lead a new ODA Directorate for the Home Office and enact transformative change to focus the Department’s activities on strategic upstream interventions.

The Northern Ireland Office appointed a new Director General to support the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and Permanent Secretary at a challenging time for Northern Ireland and the wider UK. The appointment was made in accordance with Cabinet Office guidelines and approved by the Civil Service Senior Leadership Committee and Cabinet Secretary. Roles, responsibilities and salaries of the senior management team are published in the Department's Annual Report and Accounts.

The Department has not issued a job description or specification for the role of teaching assistants. It is for employers to define job roles and make decisions about contracts of employment. Network Rail is a private sector company limited by guarantee. The nature and impact of its works to Bescar Lane station and any related correspondence arising are operational matters for the company, in which Ministers have no powers to intervene or to issue directions.
I understand, however, that Network Rail has already been in contact with the hon. Member to arrange a meeting with the company’s route managing director responsible for this area and that a telephone call and site visit on this issue have already taken place to take the matter forward. I understand that a formal response will follow very shortly from Network Rail’s chief executive.
