British Nationality: Children

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if he will make it his policy to refund profits made from failed citizenship applications for children.

Answer: The Home Office keeps its refund policy under review. We have committed to considering the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders, Immigration and Citizenship’s recommendations (made in his review entitled “An Inspection of the Home Office Borders, Immigration and Citizenship System’s policies and practises relating to charging and fees”) on refunds associated with refused nationality and settlement applications in the context of the next Spending Review.
