Coronavirus: Vaccination

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many fridges of which brand or type the Government has ordered for the storage of the Pfizer covid-19 vaccine; and what the (a) cost and (b) arrival date in the UK is of each of those fridges.

Answer: Public Health England has secured 58 specialised Twin Guard ultra-low temperature freezers which provide sufficient storage for approximately five million doses of potential COVID-19 vaccines which require ultra-low temperature storage. The cost of the purchase of the ultra-low temperature freezers is commercially sensitive. The ultra-low temperature freezers are in the United Kingdom, fully operational, and located in national storage facilities both in Great Britain and in Northern Ireland, in readiness for the commencement of a COVID-19 immunisation programme. The freezers are not portable.
