Consumers: Subscriptions

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, whether the Government plans to bring forward legislative proposals to tackle subscription traps.

Answer: On 20 April 2022, the Government published its response to the consultation ‘Reforming Competition and Consumer Policy – Driving growth and delivering competitive markets that work for consumers’. The response reaffirmed our commitment to boosting consumer rights and preventing scams and rip-offs, including proposals to tackle subscription traps. The Government will legislate to implement the reforms when Parliamentary time is available.
