Written question asked by Ruth Jones (Labour) on Thursday, 23 February 2023, in the House of Commons. It was due for an answer on Monday, 27 February 2023. It was answered by Rebecca Pow (Conservative) on Friday, 3 March 2023 on behalf of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Air Pollution: Bristol and Somerset

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, how much her Department has spent on improving air quality in the Bristol and Somerset area in each of the last five years.

Answer

A wide and diverse range of complex policies affect air quality. Additionally, owing to the transboundary nature of air pollution, government is taking action not just locally, but also nationally and internationally. Due to this complexity, government does not consider it proportionate or beneficial to disaggregate total air quality spending at a regional level.
