Armed Forces: Depleted Uranium

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether his Department has made any compensation payments for illnesses relating to exposure of UK armed forces personnel to depleted uranium.

Answer

The information requested is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost. To determine the number of claims that were due to exposure of depleted uranium would require a manual search of hardcopy files which would be over the appropriate cost limit.
