To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what assessment he has made of the implications for his policies of plans to open a Russian television station in the Central African Republic, including (a) the impact on risks of misinformation and disinformation and (b) transparency in the funding of this television station.

The UK does not have a resident Embassy in the Central African Republic but we monitor the political, economic, and social situation in that country through the British Embassy in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
As a privately owned entity, we are unable to comment on the funding of the television station. However, we note the rise of misinformation in the Central African Republic and its potential destabilising impact.
