Exercise: Social Prescribing
- Question
-
What assessment he has made of the potential impact of NHS practitioners prescribing parkrun on public health.
- Answer
-
Parkrun is a fantastic achievement - helping thousands of people to move more. Social prescribing like this can really boost people’s health and wellbeing.
We know that movement saves the NHS around £10.5 billion a year – but 12 million adults are still inactive.
We need a team effort to succeed in getting millions more moving and there’s lots for us to learn from Parkrun’s experience.
