Railway Stations: Air Pollution

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the Answer of 15 June 2026 to Question 7215 on Railway Stations: Nitrogen Dioxide, how many Network Rail managed stations currently have Air Quality Improvement Plans in place.

Answer: Nine of Network Rail’s managed stations are currently subject to Air Quality Improvement Plans (AQIPs) for the 2026-2027 reporting period. The number of stations requiring AQIPs is not fixed. Some stations may improve and therefore no longer require an AQIP, while others may be newly identified where exceedances occur. Further detailed air quality data and analysis is available through the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) via the Air Quality Monitoring Network (AQMN).
