To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, whether methods of animal slaughter have featured in trade negotiations with India.

All agri food products must comply with UK import requirements in order to be placed on the UK market. This includes ensuring imported meat products have been slaughtered to animal welfare standards equivalent to our domestic standards.
The UK’s Free Trade Agreement with India is consistent with this requirement. The agreement also includes commitments to cooperate on animal welfare.
