Plastics: Recycling

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what recent steps she has taken with local stakeholders to increase the proportion of plastic waste recycled in Slough.

Answer

The Simpler Recycling reforms ensure that across England, people can recycle the same materials, including plastic, whether at home, work or school.

These changes are already in force for workplaces with 10 or more full time employees and came into effect for households in England from 31 March 2026. Simpler Recycling will apply to micro-firms (workplaces with fewer than 10 employees) from 31 March 2027.

We have provided a suite of resources and guidance on gov.uk to assist local stakeholders in implementing the new requirements. We continue to engage with stakeholders to support successful delivery of the reforms.
