Railways: Temperature

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps she is taking to ensure rail companies are obliged to provide a comfortable temperature and climate conditions for passengers.

Answer

Operators are responsible for maintaining trains, including heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems where fitted. Passenger comfort is supported through the RSSB's Key Train Requirements and rolling stock specifications, which are used when procuring and refurbishing trains. These requirements address passenger environmental conditions, including heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
