Navy: Unmanned Marine Systems

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what changes to the a) regulatory and b) classification framework will be required in order to deliver the Royal Navy’s new Type 91-94 autonomous vessels.

Answer

The Royal Navy will always comply with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Work is ongoing with the relevant parties including the Defence Maritime Regulator to support the Hybrid Navy Concept.
