Football: Sponsorship

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, if she will make an assessment of the potential implications for her policies of the findings in the report by War on Want and the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians entitled Red Card: English Premier League Sportswashing of Israel’s Atrocities against the Palestinians, published on 18 May 2026 on sponsors of English Premier League football clubs.

Answer

Premier League football clubs are private entities and any business sponsorship arrangements are a matter for them. The UK remains of the firm view that the two-state solution is the best means to secure lasting peace, security and prosperity for Israelis and Palestinians. We are clear that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law and undermine the viability of a two-state solution. On 8 September the Foreign Secretary announced a series of measures aimed at those who finance or facilitate illegal settlement expansion.
