To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, with reference to the document, Frequency Asked Questions about Emergency Alerts, published by the Cabinet Office in 2023, what are the latest criteria for use of the Emergency Alert service in relation to (a) localised alerts and (b) nationwide alerts.

The threshold considerations for issuing an emergency alert include considering whether there is a risk to life, and whether those receiving the message need to take urgent action.
There is no separate criteria for issuing alerts locally and nationally.
