Armed Forces: Recruitment
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the 2025 Strategic Defence Review, what progress has he made in developing a series of Tri-Service ‘phase 0’ camps as outlined in Recommendation 16.
- Answer
-
Given the imminent delivery of the Armed Forces Recruiting Service (AFRS), which will dramatically decrease the waiting time for candidates seeking to join the Armed Forces, Defence Ministers agreed that the resource cost of establishing a Tri-Service ‘Phase 0’ camp programme outweighed the potential benefits, especially during the transition to AFR. Ministers directed that the recommendation not be taken further at this time, and should be reviewed after the transition to AFR.
