To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what legal advice the Government has received on the compatibility of the proposed UK-Mauritius agreement with the 1966 UK-US Exchange of Notes concerning the British Indian Ocean Territory.

I refer the Hon Member to the debate on 26 January 2026 in which the former Minister for the Overseas Territories told the House that the 1966 UK-US Exchange of Notes would need to be updated before the UK-Mauritius Agreement could be ratified.
