Written question asked by Gareth Thomas (Labour) on Monday, 14 September 2026, in the House of Commons. It was due for an answer on Tuesday, 13 October 2026 (named day). It was answered by Keir Mather (Labour) on Tuesday, 13 October 2026 on behalf of the Department for Transport.

RAF Northolt

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) capability is currently available at RAF Northolt; whether SAF is available to business aviation operators using the airfield; how its availability compares with Farnborough, London Luton, London Stansted and Biggin Hill airports; and what plans she has to expand SAF and other aviation decarbonisation measures at RAF Northolt.

Answer

The Department for Transport does not hold information on Sustainable Aviation Fuel capability or availability at individual military bases or airports, including RAF Northolt, or on whether SAF is available to particular categories of operator at specific airfields. It therefore does not hold a comparison between RAF Northolt, Farnborough, London Luton, London Stansted and Biggin Hill.
