Department for Transport ministers and officials hold regular discussions with representatives from the road haulage and logistics industry to understand the sector’s priorities. These discussions are wide ranging and include business cost pressures facing road haulage and logistics operations from rising fuel prices.
Government measures that support the road haulage and logistics industry include:
- the extension of the 5 pence cut in fuel duty and the Vehicle Excise Duty payment holiday announced in May;
- up to £35.7 million of joint government and industry investment in safer and more secure HGV parking and better driver facilities; and,
- for Great Britain, discounts of up to £81,000 on new electric trucks are available as part of £1 billion support through to 2030 for the uptake of Zero Emission HGVs.
