Ballistic Missile Defence
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to the answer of 6 October 2026 to question 22859 on Ballistic Missile Defence, what progress he has made on developing measures to minimise the spread of missile technology under the STORM framework.
- Answer
-
The STORM framework aims to sustain, exploit, and develop UK industrial and academic expertise that will continue to develop next-generation and generation-after-next Integrated Air and Missile Defence technologies. As a science and technology focused framework, this is achieved through a wide range of research tasks that include analysis, experimentation, trials and technology/system development.
Since the STORM framework contract was let in April 2025, progress is ongoing through the research tasks which are being conducted across the full breadth of the scope set out in the answer to question 22859. The Ministry of Defence cannot comment on the specifics of the work conducted under the STORM framework, as doing so could provide an advantage to those who may seek to harm the UK.
