Artillery: Procurement

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the press release entitled Next-generation remote controlled artillery systems to transform British Army, published on 13 May 2026, when (a) 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, (b) 4th Regiment Royal Artillery and (c) 19 Regiment Royal Artillery will each receive their first RCH155.

Answer

RCH 155 fielding plans remain subject to refinement, and it is therefore not possible to confirm when individual regiments will receive their first systems. Fielding plans will remain dynamic to prioritise critical training, testing and evaluation, and qualification activity to deliver a Minimum Deployable Capability within this decade.

On current planning, 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery is expected to be the first unit to receive the capability. Three regiments will be fully trained and equipped with RCH 155 prior to the declaration of Full Operating Capability.
