Right to Buy Scheme: Housing Associations
- Question
-
To ask Her Majesty’s Government when the provisions of the Housing and Planning Act 2016 relating to the higher value levy will come into force.
- Answer
-
The provisions in the Housing and Planning Act 2016 relating to the sale of vacant higher value local authority housing came into force on Royal Assent. However there is a number of steps that must be taken before local authorities will be required to make payments to Government under these powers. This includes making regulations defining higher value, which will be subject to the affirmative procedure, and consulting before making a determination. Further information will be shared in due course.
