Developing Countries: Weather

Question

To ask His Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the economic cost to the world’s poorest countries from periods of extremely hot weather.

Answer

The UN IPCC's Working Group II report on the vulnerability of socio-economic and natural systems to climate change provides a stark assessment on the impacts of climate change. Findings show that impacts are worse than previously predicted and current efforts to adapt are insufficient. The UK is fully committed to supporting countries' efforts to adapt to these impacts, including through our International Climate Finance (ICF), which this government has pledged to double to £11.6 billion.
