United Arab Emirates: British Nationals Abroad

Question

To ask His Majesty's Government what representations they have made to the Government of the United Arab Emirates about the treatment of British women and girls who have suffered or allegedly suffered violence in Dubai; and what consideration they have given to adjusting travel advice to the United Arab Emirates.

Answer

Consular services are accessible 24/7, and our staff work tirelessly to support British people around the world, considering every case individually. We will always raise reports of violence with host authorities wherever British nationals consent for us to do so. Our Travel Advice helps British nationals make informed decisions about overseas travel and is kept under regular review to ensure it reflects the most important and up to date information. We encourage all travellers to check this before travelling. We also provide dedicated 'advice for women travelling abroad', which highlights specific risks and obstacles women may face. The safety of British nationals remains our main concern.
