Written question asked by Earl of Minto (Conservative) on Thursday, 9 July 2026, in the House of Lords. It was due for an answer on Thursday, 23 July 2026. It was answered by Lord Coaker (Labour) on Tuesday, 21 July 2026 on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

Guided Weapons: Procurement

Question

To ask His Majesty's Government, following the recent decision to acquire the Precision Strike Missile from an American-based missile programme, what further defence procurement orders are to be placed with non-UK suppliers.

Answer

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) does not hold specific information on future defence procurement orders with non-UK suppliers, as procurement decisions are based on operational needs, legal compliance, and strategic considerations. MOD operates in accordance with the Procurement Act 2023 and related policies, ensuring compliance with legal obligations while supporting UK industry and maintaining transparency through public contract publication.

Since the Procurement Act 2023 (PA023) came into effect the Department publishes their procurement pipeline on a continuous basis via the UK 1 Pipeline Notice, rather than pre PA023 when we published an 18-month forward look. This can be accessed via the Find a Tender platform.
