To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make an assessment of the effect of his proposals to increase the period of time during which reservists will train and deploy on their mental health.

The mental health of all military personnel, both regulars and reservists, is of paramount importance. Implementation of the recommendations of the Future Reserves 2020 (FR20) Review will take place over the next few years, and any possible implications for the mental health of reserve personnel will be taken into account during this process.
While mobilised for deployment, all reservists will continue to be entitled to the same mental health care as regular personnel, which is provided by the Defence Medical Services. Following demobilisation, any reservist who believes that the deployment may have adversely affected their mental health is entitled to apply to the Reserves Mental Health Programme (RMHP) for assessment and treatment via one of the Ministry of Defence's 15 Departments of Community Mental Health (DCMHs). These entitlements will not be affected by the FR20 proposals.
