To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment he has made of the affordability to the public purse of paying school governor's expenses.

The Treasury has not carried out an assessment of the affordability of paying school governors’ expenses. Payment of governors’ expenses is discretionary for schools and academies, and we expect them to ensure that any payments are affordable.
