(3) how many special advisers have used the appeals process to challenge an adverse vetting decision since May 2010.

As was the practice under the previous Administration, each Government Department is responsible for determining its personnel security controls and any related vetting requirements, in line with the HMG Security Policy Framework. Information on the framework is available via:

Information relating to internal discussion and advice is not normally disclosed. Information about individual security clearances is not held centrally.
