Police: Laboratories
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what her latest estimate is of the number of police laboratories that will be accredited to ISO17025 by November 2013.

- Answer

[holding answer 18 July 2013]: 37% of police forces currently hold accreditation to ISO 17025, this is predicted to increase to over 60% by November 2013 as a number of forces finalise the recommendations made by the awarding body, United Kingdom Accreditation Service. A number of forces have however decided to outsource this activity to commercial forensic service providers, who already hold ISO 17025, either on a short- or long-term basis.
