Stop-and-Search
My hon. Friend makes an important point. The testimony of that young man really brought home to me both the extent to which the misuse of stop-and-search can alienate people, and the problems that people from particular communities, such as that young black
man, have experienced over the years. What was distressing was his assumption that, “It will happen to me because I am black”. That is appalling and must not be the case, which is why the reforms are so important.
