[holding answer 17 September 2007]: Since 1997, the Home Office has specifically provided the City of York with £268,000 for close circuit television.Other years' crime reduction funding has been allocated directly to the local Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and Basic Command Unit in York to finance a variety of interventions, including CCTV. Information about the allocation of that funding is not held centrally.

The latest available data on drug seizures is for 2004 and can be found in the Home Office Statistical Bulletin series "Seizures of Drugs, England and Wales 2004". The quantities seized by the police in England and Wales, for 1997 and 2004, for each drug are shown in the table attached.The quantities of LSD and ecstasy-type drugs (including MDMA) seized have been listed in thousands of doses seized rather than as a weight. In 2004 the seized LSD quantity was published in number of doses; this answer gives seized LSD quantities in thousands of doses.Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from large administrative data systems generated by the police forces and HM Revenue and Customs. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when those data are used.

We have undertaken a review of the offences listed in schedules 3 and 5 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, whereby if someone has been convicted of one of those offences, they may be made subject to the notification requirements (commonly referred to as the ‘sex offenders register’). As part of the review, we have become aware of concerns that child abduction should be added to the list of relevant offences. We are currently finalising an Order amending the list of offences in schedules 3 and 5 of the 2003 Act which we will lay as soon as possible.

Home Office allocations made to all Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) in Yorkshire and The Humber since 2002-03 are set out in the tables.Since 2005-06, the Building Safer Communities Fund and the Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinators Grant have formed part of the Safer and Stronger Communities Fund.This is a pooled budget with contributions from the Home Office and the Department for Communities and Local Government.These figures exclude any funding allocated to CDRPs that has been targeted at certain areas, such as the Street Crime Initiative and the Tackling Violent Crime Programme, and any discretionary allocations made by the Regional Director.
