The Government’s definition of old-growth forest is set out in the terms of the new Low-Carbon Dispatchable Contract for Difference published by the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) on 1 December. From 2027 there is no reliance on any other definition for determining eligibility subsidy.
Any breaches of the contractual restriction on sourcing biomass directly from old-growth forest will result in significant financial penalties and could lead to termination of the contract for serious or repeated breaches. The contract also contains strengthened Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) measures, and gives LCCC powers to conduct audits throughout the biomass supply chain.

To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what discussions he has had with the UK-US Trade Working Group on access for UK steel producers to US Government procurement contracts in a future trade agreement.
The UK-US Trade and Investment Working Group has met on five occasions since it was launched in July 2017, most recently in November 2018. The working group’s aim is to provide commercial continuity across a wide range of sectors, including steel, for US and UK businesses, workers, and consumers as the UK leaves the EU and explore ways to strengthen trade and investment ties ahead of exit. The group is also laying the groundwork to ensure that both sides are well prepared to open trade negotiations on an free trade agreement after the UK leaves the EU in 2019.

We have eight delivery partners providing English regional services through nine contracts and 32 delivery partners across 32 markets to provide our overseas services.
The budgeted figures for 2017/18 are £25.4m and £9.2m for supporting the work of delivery partners in the English regions and overseas respectively.

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is committed to opening up its contract opportunities to suppliers to ensure economies of scale, global reach, professionalism and operational efficiencies. DIT therefore outsources all event delivery (in which around 400 will be delivered globally in 2016-17). DIT’s incumbent supplier’s contract will end in 2017.

Responsibility for the suitability of systems used for competitive tendering for contracts for food hygiene and food standards public analyst scientific services lies with the local authority rather than the Food Standards Agency.
