The number of deaths in prison custody from drug overdoses for the last 3 years is published in the Safety in Custody statistical bulletin which is available at http://www.gov.uk/government/collections/safety-in-custody-statistics.
Table 1.12 of the Deaths in Prison Custody 1978-2013 shows self-inflicted deaths by method.
We are working hard to manage the levels of self-harm in prison and are carefully investigating the rise in self-inflicted deaths.
We are applying strenuous efforts to learn from each one and providing further resources and support to prisons to help support their safer custody work.

We continue to have concerns about the situation of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention. These concerns include, but are not limited to: allegations of mistreatment during arrest and in Israeli prisons, widespread use of administrative detention by the Israeli authorities, frequent restrictions on family visits and on
access to lawyers and the use of secret evidence before the military courts and routine detention of Palestinians from the West Bank in prison inside Israel, in contravention of the Geneva Convention.
We raise these concerns regularly with the Israeli authorities. UK officials attend military court hearings as part of an EU team monitoring cases of Palestinians identified as human rights defenders. The UK Government has previously provided practical assistance such as helping ensure that detainees were represented by Palestinian lawyers trained in Israeli military law.

We are aware of some reports of Sunduq punishment being used in Israeli prisons. We have not raised this specific issue with the Israeli authorities but will do so as part of our broader work on the rights of prisoners held in Israeli prisons.
We continue to raise our concerns with the Israeli authorities over the use of a dual court system whereby Palestinians, except East Jerusalem residents, are subject to the Israeli military court system, irrespective of the charge, whereas Israeli settlers are dealt with by the Israeli civil justice system.
We regularly encourage the Israeli authorities to comply with their obligations under international law, including in their policies on detention and the treatment of Palestinian prisoners.

We do not have figures available on the number of Palestinian prisoners that have been tried before the Israeli military courts.

I have regularly raised our concerns about the use of administrative detention by Israel, including with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Ayalon on 27 February, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Meridor on 19 March and the Israeli ambassador to London on 8 May, The UK ambassador to Israel also raised the issue with Israeli Foreign Minister Lieberman on 10 May.
