To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many and what proportion of Work Coaches have been trained to understand domestic abuse; and who that training is provided by.
All staff new to DWP complete learning on Domestic Abuse as part of their induction.
Work Coaches then complete role specific learning which includes further learning on domestic abuse which will build their knowledge to develop the relevant skills to help all customers, by tailoring their support to their individual needs. All learning is delivered by DWP staff.
In total 27,714 work coach staff have completed domestic abuse learning over the last five years. Please note that the number of trained staff may include individuals who have since moved roles or left the organisation.

All Work Coaches new to DWP receive mandatory learning to support vulnerable customers and complex needs as part of their induction and onboarding. This includes completion of 30-minutes of self-paced learning on domestic abuse.
The Work Coach learning journey includes an additional 90-minutes of facilitated learning on domestic abuse. The aim of this learning is to explain what support we can offer to a victim, or survivor, of domestic abuse. After completing their facilitated learning Work Coaches have access to self-paced learning to enable them to continue to build their knowledge and understanding in their day-to-day role.

All DWP new entrant Work Coaches undergo a minimum mandatory learning journey comprising of a combination of induction, onboarding, and operational fundamental learning covering vulnerable customers and complex needs. This includes a 30-minute product on domestic violence and abuse.
The Work Coach specific learning journey includes a further 90-minute facilitated product on domestic abuse. This builds on the initial introduction to this topic and is available for Work Coaches to refresh their understanding and approach as they continue in their day-to-day role.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many disclosures of domestic abuse his Department’s Ask for ANI scheme received in (a) Jobcentre and (b) Jobs and Benefit Office sites in 2023.
Ask for ANI (Action Needed Immediately) was launched across pharmacies in the UK during the unprecedented emergency of the pandemic in January 2021. Since then, there have been 186 reported disclosures from across the UK where victims have been supported by pharmacists to access support from the police or domestic abuse services. Of those disclosures, 38 were in 2022 and 50 in 2023. This however is likely to be an underestimate as participating pharmacies are encouraged but not required to report disclosures to the Home Office.
The Ask for ANI scheme is currently being piloted in 15 Jobcentre Plus sites across England, Scotland and Wales and 4 Jobs and Benefits Offices in Northern Ireland. An independent evaluation has been commissioned to understand how the scheme has been implemented across the pilot sites which will conclude this summer. As the evaluation is ongoing, we are not able to share numbers of disclosures in pilot sites at this stage. A decision on the publication of the evaluation will be made in due course.

All work coaches receive mandatory training developed and reviewed by domestic abuse partner organisations. Each site has access to their District Provision Toolkit which enables colleagues to support with complex needs. At a local level, Jobcentres have link and local agreements with a network of charities with whom we work in partnership to provide support for victims of domestic abuse.
