That this House condemns the scandalous pay increase of 102 per cent. given to the Chief Executive of the East Midlands Regional Electricity Board; notes this represents a quadrupling of his salary since privatisation and comes at a time when growing numbers of people on low and fixed incomes struggle to meet the increased electricity charges they are facing; and calls on the Government to introduce immediate legislation to control the outrageous rewards that senior management in privatised public services are now awarding themselves, ensuring that the services are run in the interests of the public rather than for public parasites.
