The Council has met twice to discuss inward investment, trade, and AI. These meetings ensured we maximised the opportunity the 2024 International Investment Summit presented and identified areas for ongoing collaboration for AI adoption and data sharing. Alongside the second meeting, the Chief Digital and Chief Information Officers from across the devolved governments and Mayoral Strategic Authorities were brought together for the first time by the Government Digital Service to form collaborative partnerships. The Government is committed to ensuring the devolved governments and Mayoral Strategic Authorities in England are able to represent their interests in regular engagement, including intergovernmental forums.

As set out in the Memorandum of Understanding between HM Treasury and the Bank of England, the Bank of England is entirely responsible for the design, production, issue and distribution of banknotes.
As such, given responsibility rests with the Bank of England, HM Treasury has not made an assessment of the Bank of England's proposed banknote designs.

Reports of human rights violations in Tibet are deeply concerning. This Government stands firm on human rights, including against China's repression of the people of Tibet, and we continue to raise our concerns at the highest levels; the Prime Minister raised Tibet during his meeting with Xi Jinping in January.
We champion the right to freedom of religion or belief for all abroad, including Tibetan Buddhists, across a wide range of international fora; the UK's Human Rights Ambassador raised our concerns around restrictions in Tibet at the UN Human Rights Council on 16 March.

A great strength of our national identity is its pluralism. Whether we are from England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland; whatever our religion or belief; whether we were born here or abroad; or whatever the colour of our skin, we can all embrace our shared identity, celebrate what we have in common, and be proud of our country’s long history and heritage.
As set out in Protecting What Matters, we will set clear national integration expectations for communities across the country, focused on stronger social connections, shared identity, English language proficiency, and participation in work. We will also strengthen the national curriculum and qualifications in England to ensure high quality teaching of our nation’s history.

MHCLG is co-ordinating cross-Government efforts to consider a longer-term, more strategic approach to social cohesion.
The Prime Minister has made clear that he is proud of our flag, which represents our history, our heritage, and our values; it is a great symbol of our nation and should not be devalued and belittled. Flags should be an embodiment of bringing our country and our communities together.
Where flags or other materials are fly posted without permission, councils have powers to remove unauthorised advertisements. In addition, where there is evidence of threatening or intimidating behaviour, such incidents should be reported to the police. We should reclaim the flag from those who want to use it to cause conflict: it belongs to all of us, and we should be proud of it.

The below answer refers to funding made by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government only for English language provision. The provisions described are in addition to what other departments offer.
Councils receive a tariff of £5,900 per Homes for Ukraine arrival in their area to support guests to rebuild their lives and fully integrate into communities. Councils can use this funding flexibly which could include supporting guests to access English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) provision.
The department provided £11.5 million of funding for English language courses and employment support for over 12,500 Ukrainians across the UK through the ‘STEP Ukraine’ programme. Following that success, the STEP Programme launched earlier this month which will provide intensive English language lessons and employment support for up to 4,000 individuals on Ukraine schemes and Hong Kong British National (Overseas) visas. The department has also allocated £3 million in grant funding to Strategic Migration Partnerships (SMPs) in England to strengthen the capacity of ESOL teachers and expand community-based English language support for eligible Afghans, Ukrainians, and Hong Kong BN(O)s until March 2026. This builds on the £1 million SMP ESOL capacity grant delivered in 2023–24, which trained over 350 teachers and supported more than 2,500 resettled learners
The Hong Kong British National (Overseas) Welcome Programme, which is in its fifth year of funding, provides demand led funding to councils in England which can be accessed to cover the costs of English language courses. In 2024-25, the department allocated £4.5m to councils. Continued funding is available in 2025-26.

On 25 September, this Government published its Pride in Place Strategy, setting out a vision to restore national pride by empowering communities and revitalising local areas. It recognises that pride stems from what people see from their doorstep - safe streets, thriving high streets, and trusted public services.
The strategy is a significant step change in how we support communities, a new way for government to work in partnership with people and neighbourhoods, empowering them with the tools and levers to drive meaningful change that reflects their priorities. Our flagship Pride in Place Programme will provide up to £20 million of flexible funding and support over 10-years to 244 neighbourhoods to unlock the potential of the place they call home.
