My Department did not proactively issue a press release about Right to Buy reforms during the local government pre-election period.
It did, however, publish a news story on gov.uk which can be found here. This provided a factual update about the scheme, which was within the scope of the pre-election period guidance. No new policy was announced.

Cabinet Office officials engage routinely and constructively with the Committee and will continue to do so. The Cabinet Office has agreed to the Committee’s requested uplift on budgeting and resourcing, which should help it to continue to undertake its critical role effectively. Cabinet Office officials are also working with the ISC to identify the best operating model for the future.
The Prime Minister values the independent and robust oversight which the Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) provides. Following discussions with the Committee, the Cabinet Office is conducting a review of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Prime Minister and the Committee. Any changes made to the MOU would need to be agreed by both the Prime Minister and the ISC.

I refer the Hon Member to the answer I gave to Question UIN 16976 on 7 March 2024.
I wish to be clear with the Hon Member once more. My visit to Tamworth was a political visit. It was arranged through political channels.
I notified the Hon Member ahead of visiting her constituency as per parliamentary protocols.
Furthermore, she should note that the cost of answering a written ministerial question has previously been estimated to be in region of £150. I have so far answered multiple questions on this subject.
To put it in perspective, the train ticket I purchased to visit Tamworth (at no cost to the taxpayer) cost £5.60.
If the honourable lady would like to meet me to discuss any of these matters further, at a far cheaper cost to the taxpayer, I am happy to facilitate such a meeting.
But I would prefer to discuss how this Government can level up all parts of this great country, including of course Tamworth.

In order to satisfy the high volume and varied nature of media queries in a prompt manner, not all responses issued by departmental spokespeople to journalists are required to be individually approved by ministers. Information is routinely provided by government media officers to help journalists understand the policies and the background of the department’s policy

Defra routinely publishes on the UK-Air website Met Office air pollution forecasts and real-time monitoring data, which shows air pollution levels across the UK. Defra also issues daily tweets from the UK-Air Twitter account, which provides the latest information about current air pollution levels and health advice. These are followed by journalists who use this to inform their reporting, as well as health charities and campaign groups who regularly retweet information to vulnerable populations. Given that this system is in place, Defra does not routinely issue press releases during air pollution episodes, but has done so on three occasions.
Since the beginning of May 2014 there have been 27 air pollution episodes. A total of 441 tweets have been issued from Defra’s UK-Air Twitter account on these occasions. Public Health England retweets these messages, as do their devolved counterparts in cases where episodes affect their territories.
Defra also alerts its network of health charities on each occasion. These alerts provide full details of the nature of the air pollution episode, its anticipated duration and links to further information including specific health advice relevant to the episode.
An air pollution episode is defined as a period during which the level of any measured pollutant monitored by the UK’s network of air pollution monitoring sites has recorded High or Very High against the Daily Air Quality Index (DAQI). Also, when ozone is measured to have breached the Information threshold of 180 microgrammes per cubic metre for one hour (as defined in air quality legislation) this is classified as an air pollution episode.
