That this House congratulates Vincent Willson on his retirement after more than 40 years of dedicated service to the people of Devon through the Citizens Advice service in Devon; notes that he has worked within the Citizens Advice service in Devon since 1985, including 24 years with the Devon Welfare Rights Unit and subsequently as manager of Citizens Advice Teignbridge; recognises his outstanding contribution to welfare rights advice, training and advocacy, particularly for disabled people and others navigating complex benefits systems; further notes his commitment to sharing knowledge and developing the skills of advisers across the county through his training work and partnerships with voluntary and community organisations; also notes that Members representing Devon constituencies have witnessed first-hand the invaluable support provided by Citizens Advice staff and volunteers under his leadership, helping residents navigate some of the most challenging periods of their lives; acknowledges the profound impact his work has had in helping thousands of people understand and exercise their rights during times of hardship and uncertainty; thanks him for a career dedicated to public service, fairness and social justice; and wishes him a long, healthy and fulfilling retirement.

That this House congratulates Lelia Gardner, a member of 1st Bishopsteignton Scouts in Teignbridge, on achieving the King’s Scout Award, the highest award in Scouting; notes that this award requires sustained commitment, including the completion of volunteering in the local community, the development of practical and leadership skills, and the undertaking of a challenging expedition; recognises the contribution of Scouting to the personal development of young people and to community life; further recognises the role of 1st Bishopsteignton Scouts and Scout groups across Teignbridge in supporting young people to gain confidence, resilience and skills for life; and thanks the volunteers, leaders and families who support Scouting locally and across the UK.

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what kinds of heritage and restoration funding can be made available for the repair and protection of Teignbridge pier in Newton Abbot Constituency.
This Government recognises the importance of local heritage assets such as the Victorian Teignbridge Pier. On the 21st of January, the Secretary of State announced a new £1.2bn Arts Everywhere package. The package includes nearly £200 million for heritage protecting and preserving heritage buildings across the country:
£60 million for at risk heritage which provides grants towards repairs and conservation of historic buildings.
£41 million for the Heritage Revival Fund which helps communities to take control of and look after local heritage and bring buildings back into public use.
Further details regarding the application process and eligibility, for both funds, will be announced in due course.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund offers grants between £10,000 and £10 million to projects that connect people and communities to the UK’s heritage. This could include covering repair work as part of a wider project.

At Spring statement, the government announced an immediate injection of £2 billion to support delivery of the biggest boost in social and affordable housebuilding in a generation and contribute to our ambitious Plan for Change milestone of building 1.5 million safe and decent homes in this Parliament. Further detail can be found in the Written Ministerial Statement made on 25 March 2025 (HCWS549).
The investment made at Spring statement follows the £800 million in new in-year funding which has been made available for the 2021-26 Affordable Homes Programme and that will support the delivery of up to 7,800 new homes, with more than half of them being Social Rent homes.
Exact funding to different places and the locations of homes that will be built will depend on the bids received from local authorities and housing associations. The government encourages social housing providers in all areas to come forward with bids for new ambitious projects, including those ready to commence quickly.
We will set out set details of new investment to succeed the 2021-26 Affordable Homes Programme at the Spending Review. This new investment will deliver a mix of homes for sub-market rent and homeownership, with a particular focus on delivering homes for social rent.
